Job Overview: As a traffic signal technician, install and repair traffic control equipment. Maintain electrical systems and microprocessor-based controllers including relays, wiring, conflict monitors, signal suspension cables, poles, communication modules, underground conduits, related lighting, and vehicle detectors. Handle calibration, run diagnostic tests, analyze data of traffic flow and design timing of signal control devices. Review inventory to ensure availability of tools and replacement parts needed.Â
Performed work in the installation and repair of the traffic signal equipment: traffic controller, vehicle and pedestrian detection systems.
Responded to a variety of emergency calls to repair and inspect malfunctioning traffic signals and other related traffic control devices.
Perform skilled work in the preventative maintenance, installation, and repair of traffic control devices and related electrical equipment.
Install traffic signal pole foundations, traffic signal poles, overhead span wire and traffic control signs.
Draw up plan of records and as built plans.
Operated hydraulic machinery to install electrical and lighting poles on major of Transportation highway projects.
Program and trouble-shoot microprocessor and solid-state traffic light controls
Maintain records in compliance with regulated safety standards including
Work heavy machines and use hand tools and power tools.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
Designed signage and placed in designated areas
Experience with hand tools ranging from digger bars, post hole diggers to power drills
