Supervisor, Accounts Receivable

Job Summary:
The incumbent performs a range of intermediate financial accounting activities in a timely and accurate manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare, maintain, monitor, post, organize, evaluate and supervise revenue collection accounting transactions in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls. Make recommendations for operational improvements and efficiencies.
Supervise and provide leadership in all human resource areas including recruitment, training and performance management.
Participate in complex revenue collection matters including investigation, problem solving, dispute resolution and recommending a solution within acceptable limits provided for under legislation, practices and procedures.
Prepare and distribute invoices in accordance with various approved bylaws including fees and charges.
Enforce financial controls by monitoring, analyzing and confirming revenue collection data.
Research, compile statistics and prepare reports including year-end reports.
Prepare, monitor, track, process and reconcile accounts receivable accounts and licence renewals in accordance with various fees and bylaws.
Prepare, verify, track, monitor, process and reconcile account receivable accounts collection and preparing written notification and collection on delinquent receivables. This may include: Tax liens and distress warrants; Payment in lieu for both Federal and Yukon Governments’ property tax accounts; Small claims action; Non-sufficient funds; Write-off accounts; etc.
Oversee and maintain revenue collection system software, prepare journal entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts.
Provide input into Bylaws in area of responsibility.
Act as Controller as assigned.
Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
Other related duties.
This position contains elements necessary for identification and evaluation of the job. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties.
Working Conditions:
Majority of the work is performed under normal office conditions.
Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
2 year post-secondary Business Administration or Accounting diploma.
5 years previous related experience including 2 years at a supervisory level and 1 year on the job training.
Knowledge of collection procedures from a legal perspective.
Proven skills working with computerized financial systems software.
Ability to work and maintain accuracy under pressure, attention to details and meet critical deadlines.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with little supervision.
Strong client service orientation and good interpersonal skills.
Good organizational, project management, research and multi-tasking skills.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Examples of Equipment to Operate:
General office equipment with the ability to operate ERP software programs, spreadsheets, electronic mail, word processing, etc.
