Occupational Health & Safety / Emergency Response Officer – Term Department: Executive Governance and Operations Posting Date: March 18, 2021 Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75 Start Date: As soon as possible End Date: Two years with possible extension Salary: Level 7 Step 1 ($75,558.23 annually)

Reporting to the Executive Operations Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the administration and operation of the Occupational Health & Safety and Emergency Response Program. The position assists in the development, monitoring and evaluation of the program’s objectives, work plans and budgeting. The incumbent is responsible for the program’s assets inventory, data reporting requirements and for the distribution of information and equipment across Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government facilities. The position is responsible for ensuring the overall continuity, compliance and maintenance of a well-functioning Health and Safety Committee, and acts as the official spokesperson of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Health & Safety Committee.

Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalency with post-secondary coursework and/or training related to Occupational Health and Safety or Emergency Response. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge and demonstrated skills and experience may be considered.
Practical experience with Fire Response, Search and Rescue, the Canadian Armed Forces or other related experience.
Experience and knowledge with crisis management, intervention and problem solving.
Experience with and ability to conduct investigations.
Demonstrated experience with collaborative group projects and working effectively within a team.
Considerable experience drafting and writing quality reports and other documentation.
Strong attention to detail, thoroughness and quality driven.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government structure, traditions, values as well as a sound understanding of the Umbrella Final Agreement and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Final and Self Government Agreements.
Experience with Microsoft 365.
Experience with facilitating or participating in boards and committees.
