FULL TIME RPN NIGHT SHIFT- BENEFITS – HEARTHSTONE BY THE LAKE SENIORS RESIDENCE BURLINGTON – Hamilton, ON Full Time Other Permanent Temp

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) –Full Time for Night shifts (2300-0700)

INCLUDES EVERY OTHER WEEKEND OFF – 37.5 hours per week

Hearthstone is a condominium community for senior residents – we provide support services on site, including nursing and emergency response.

We are seeking a compassionate and self-directed nurse who is trustworthy and able to organize their workload while demonstrating effective communication, analytical and assessment skills and good decision making abilities in a residential, home-care setting and can work independently and does not require constant supervision and can work within a strong committed healthcare team.

The ideal candidate possesses a valid certificate of competency in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario as well as medication administration, valid CPR and first aid certification and a Class G driver’s licence. Successful hands-on geriatric nursing experience in a residential or home-care setting is preferred.

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Delivery of exceptional customer service at all levels of departmental contact
• Perform emergency response procedures with effective assessment skills in required PPE
• Supervision of and assistance to personal care staff
• Provide personal care, homemaking and companionship as requested or required
• Administration of medication and treatments as ordered by physician documented through our EMAR system
• Conduct resident care clinics as required (weights, blood pressure, physician clinics)
• Promote enhanced services to encourage residents to age-in-place in their own home
• Process documentation for resident records and the department as required
• Work independently on the night shift, supervising a minimal staff and responding to emergency calls by residents
• Comply with Public Health, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, other pertinent legislation and corporate policies
• Liaise with resident families, physicians, pharmacies and all community health care agencies and service providers as required

Salary: From $24.15 per hour
